Dreaming of Books Giveaway!

I had such fun with the Midwinter's Eve Giveaway Hop that I decided to participate in another one! Last time I gave away an autographed copy of Family Home Evening Adventures--and I won a copy of Finding Rose (which I will be reviewing next week!). This go around I have decided to give away an autographed copy of Adventures with the Word of God.

Synopsis: Do your children's eyes gloss over as soon as family scripture study starts? Adventures with the Word of God is exactly what you need to get them excited about scripture study. Interactive scripture reading makes family study fun for the whole family. Help your children learn and understand gospel principles directly from the scriptures with a year's worth of scripture study themes, such as:

  • The family proclamation

  • Pioneers

  • President Hinckley's "Be's"

  • Charity

  • Testimony

  • Together, your family can study and learn from sets of verses on similar topics, which helps children to better understand the language of the scriptures. Helpful hints are included to provide additional ways to encourage children to pay closer attention during family study time. With this handy helper, children can gain the tools they need to begin personal scripture study and increase their individual testimonies.

To enter this giveaway, simply leave a comment about your family's experience with scripture study: do you find it hard to fit in? What works for you? What challenges are associated with studying scriptures?

Please note this giveaway ends on January 17 at midnight!

    4. We have struggled in the past to have family scripture study time. I'm determined to try again and find a time that works. Since our kids are still young enough that they are not extremely busy with extracurricular stuff, we just started to try our scripture reading right after dinner while everyone is still at the table. So far so good -- I'm hoping it will stick! All of our kids are readers now (youngest is 6) so everyone can take turns reading. We also decided to add a little motivation and told the kids that if we can read for 200 days then we will have a fun family activity, like a weekend vacation somewhere fun or something like that.

    7. Family scripture study - whats that? ;) We have a 4 and a 3 year old, so yes, holding the attention long enough for scripture study is difficult. They are adopted and enjoy talking about when they went to the temple and feel pretty special because of it. It will be nice to find a way to incorporate scripture study into the daily activities with our children and have them be excited about it. Thanks for the opportunity, if I don't win, I will still be getting your book!

    11. Its hard for my family to get together because I work first shift and my husband works second shift. We only get to see each other on weekends as a family. We spend Saturday nights as family nights and Sunday morning at church, Sunday eve studying the bible together.

    12. My kids are all 7 years old and younger so we definitely find it challenging to keep their attention when we want to read the scriptures. We usually do something brief at bedtime and that has become a good time for us to fit it in.

    27. We have scripture reading every night. Well, almost every night. Right now our struggle is the different age levels. Our 16 year old is not at the same understanding level as our 8 year old. If one isn't glossed over, it's the other!

    28. We've got little kids (ages 2-6), so the biggest problem is keeping them still. However, the nice thing about having little kids is that we are home more and it is pretty easy to have regular study at night before bed.
Thanks for the giveaway. I'm always looking for great FHE helps.

    29. I must admit we are horrible at studying the scriptures together. We do try to incorporate little life lessons in most days, but we don't study the word like we should. This looks like a great book to help us make it interesting for us and the kids.

    31. We tried early morning (everybody slept), we've tried nights (most of the time, it was me and the babies), and the one thing we settled on, was just before the majority of the kids leave for school. Everyone is up and dressed, chores done, breakfast down, and it is our quiet time together to really get the day going right. But, this means, my teenagers (who have early morning seminary) miss out because they leave the house at 5:40am. But, with 8 kids, that is what works for us.
