Farewell Truman Madsen

Conversation with a friend at church today:

Friend: Did you hear Truman Madsen died?

Me: Yes. I have been wanting to blog about it, but I don't know what to say. He was so amazing.

Friend: He was only 82. You hear of people dying at 82, but I wish he could have been able to lived til 102.

Me: I know. 82 is young.

Friend: I am going to miss his voice.

Me: Me too. I loved to hear him speak. Everything he did was so powerful.

Friend: I wish I could hear him talk about the experience of dying.

Me: That would be so cool.

Farewell, for now, Brother Madsen. You will be greatly missed.

  1. I didn't hear about him passing away! He was a great man.

  2. I used to work in the same building he had an office (I think he had more than one office on campus). One time while walking by, he was standing outside his door, wearing striped overalls that were too short (and had paint on them) and was telling a story about a pregnant woman who was too embarrassed to use the word pregnant. He was yelling, "Pregnant! The word is pregnant!" It was hilarious, and a moment I will never forget.

  5. I love his stuff. His wife, Ann Madsen, endorsed my Abinadi book. I traded a few emails with him last fall to thank him for one of the talks he gave awhile back.
